School supplies distribution is always one of our favorite times of the year! You can see the joy of what receiving school supplies means to the girls.

Meet Alda! She is a recent high school graduate, who has been with Kurandza since 2017, and her story is one of hard work, perseverance, and dedication.

We couldn’t be more excited to share with you the launch of the new Bible Studies and Discipleship Program and the impact it will have on the lives of every girl as well as each person in her world!

We are thrilled to announce the new Alumni and Internship Program! As of this year, we have had two alumni who have graduated from the Kurandza Educational Program return as interns!

Together with your support, we positively impacted over 200 lives directly in Mozambique last year. 2021 was a period of growth and change for Kurandza. Our team took the year’s unique set of challenges in stride and our passion shined as we continued to seek ways to maximize our impact.

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that encourages people around the world to do good by donating their time, money, or voice to causes that are important to them.

We did it, Kurandza family. Because of YOU, we secured scholarships for 250 girls in Mozambique to go back to school! You helped cover the costs of school fees, books, uniforms, backpacks, supplies, and transportation to the now 250 girls in our education program so that they can continue their education for another year.

In October, we welcomed 50 new girls to our educational program for a total of 250 students! Thanks to the support of our #IStandForGirls sponsors, we are thrilled to be able to continue expanding our program and impact year-after-year.

If you’ve followed our work via social media or have partnered with Kurandza in any way over the past few years, you’ve undoubtedly heard us mention “safe transportation” as a key component of our overall goal (to provide an accessible and high quality education to girls in Mozambique).

Being out of the classroom for most of 2020 and even some of 2021 took a toll on their progress. They lost several months of learning time but despite being unable to attend school in-person, we made the best out of the situation and remain hopeful as we move forward.

Plastic Free July is winding its way down, but if you’ve been on social media at all this month, you’ve probably heard buzz around the topic of reducing consumption, minimizing plastic waste, and being a conscious consumer during July and beyond.

Across Mozambique, especially in rural areas like the ones we serve, many people lack a birth certificate or legal form of identification. Oftentimes, children don’t know their exact birthdays or legal names which can present a lot of problems down the road.

March is officially known as Women’s History Month and we’ve loved seeing women honored, important stories told, and call-outs happening all month long. At Kurandza, we believe that women should be celebrated, lifted up, and given equal opportunities all year long.
