Because of your support during the 2017 #ISTandForGirls campaign, you have provided over 100 girls with access to an education!

You have provided them with uniforms, backpacks, school supplies, matriculation fees, and transportation, which has made it possible for these girls to study! When girls get an education, they have less of a chance of early pregnancy and catching HIV, and more of a chance of fulfilling employment, economic stability, and healthy families.

Esmenia is 13-years-old and is in the 6th grade. Her younger sister, Maria, is 11-years-old and is in the 5th grade. Esmenia's favorite subjects are math and art because for the first time in her life, she has a ruler set and compass so she can participate fully in all of the activities. She wants to be a police officer when she grows up. These two sisters are orphans and live with their grandmother. Because of your support, these girls are able to have the same opportunity to study as other more priveliged children do.

meet-Lahliwe-kurandza-girls.jpg

Lahliwe is 7-years-old and is in the first grade. Two of her older siblings passed away when they were babies, so the family named this one "Lahliwe" meaning "she was burried" anticipating that she would pass way like her siblings did. But she didn't-- and she's one of the most energetic, happy little girls in our program! She loves to laugh and play with the other kids at school.
