BTS: Capturing the Heart of Mozambique

Sending Filmmakers to Mozambique

Back in October, we shared our new missions video. These video clips you see in the video were shot over the summer by filmmakers funded through a Sown (storytelling for social good) grant. Sown awards a select number of nonprofits every year to tell their story free of charge. We applied and received a grant to send filmmakers to Mozambique. They would capture our work and share our story through photo and video. Mozambique kindly welcomed Ben (videographer) and Griffin (photographer) with signs, songs, smiles, and traditional dances.

Ben and Griff had six days to capture the heart of what we do in Mozambique. Their plan would take them on a journey to meet the heart and soul of the people in Mozambique, as they share their stories, and their community with them.

This is what their six days looked like:

Day 1: Welcome to Mozambique, photoshoot with students and the team.

Day 2: Capturing a day in the life of Kurandza’s college student, Felista.

Day 3: Photoshoot of the students in school and interviewing families.

Day 4: Visit to town, banana stall, and #IStandForGirls photos.

Day 5: Visiting a church and exploring the villages in Mozambique.

Day 6: Farewell to Ben and Griff and thank you for all the content they captured.

THANK YOU TO BEN & GRIFF

We couldn’t be more grateful to Ben and Griff for capturing beautiful photos and videos for Kurandza.

From the photos and videos they took, we’re able to create content for you showcasing the stories of the community and new programs in Mozambique. Like our new missions video you can watch here. Looking forward, we’re excited to share more content with you!
