Monthly sponsorship
Giving girls a bright future
The girls we serve face many barriers and lack the resources to attend school. Many are vulnerable, orphaned, and live in rural areas. As a monthly sponsor, youβll provide a girl with her most immediate needs - schooling, food aid, and counseling - while planting the seed for her long-term growth and success, and giving her something that can never be taken from her - an education.
starting at $25/month
Your sponsorship will provide a holistic education for a girl, including:
School fees:
Matriculation and exam fees are often more than they can afford. Your gift covers this expense, taking a weight off their shoulders.
Uniforms & supplies:
Thanks to you, every girl receives a new, custom-tailored uniform and a backpack full of school supplies each year.
Transportation:
Living far from school is a major roadblock to education. You ensure reliable transportation to-and-from classes each day.
Tutoring & mentoring:
Our team of tutors and mentors provide support with schoolwork, while serving as positive role models for the girls.
Extracurricular activities:
Field trips, workshops, special events for holidays, after-school programs, and more.
Psychosocial support:
We address the specific needs of each student, ensuring their physical and emotional wellbeing.

Frequently asked questions
Have another question? Click here to contact us.
+ Do you only work in Mozambique?
Our Founder, Elisabetta, spent three years with the Peace Corps in Mozambique where she met women from the local community with whom she forged strong ties.
We focus on this small region where our founder and local staff have expertise so that we can make a meaningful impact.
+ Are you a registered non-profit? Will I get a tax receipt?
Yes, weβre a registered 501C(3) charity. All donations receive a tax receipt.
You can donate securely through our online donation page.
If you have any questions about your donation, or would like to make a special investment, please contact here.
+ How many girls are in the program? Do you help boys too?
We currently have 200 girls in the program and 5 boys.
Because girls in our villages are not given the same opportunity to go to school as boys, we're trying to bridge that gap and give as many girls the opportunity to get an education as possible.
Our focus is on girls, but we're passionate about ensuring all children can access quality education.
When we have extra funding, we help vulnerable and orphaned boys who wouldn't have the opportunity to go to school if it weren't for donors like you.
+ Can I meet the girl(s) I'm sponsoring?
You will receive regular reports on how your gift is changing the lives of girls in Mozambique. We believe in the dignity of each girl and their right to privacy. Some girls do not like their photos taken and shared. For this reason, you'll get to meet several girls through our reports and videos.
+ How can I best support or sponsor girls in Mozambique?
When Kurandza began programming in 2017, sponsors and donors covered the basic costs to give girls access to education: transportation, school fees, uniforms and supplies.
We soon found that most girls need and want additional tutoring and enrichment through field trips and extracurricular activities. We also want to fill a gap in parent-teacher communication and family support.
In 2019, we added these elements to provide a more holistic, well-rounded education that helps girls not only get to school, but also stay in school so they can thrive into womanhood. In 2020 our familiesβ and teachersβ expenses rose significantly due to the global pandemic, and we foresee similar increases in 2021.
Please consider the following sponsorship options:
$25/month or $250/year to cover the basic costs to Get a Girl to School
$50/month or $500/year to fully fund the basic costs and additional programs to Keep a Girl in School
We must raise enough funds to support all 205 children for the 2021 school year by September 30. This allows our Mozambique team to measure and make uniforms, purchase adequate supplies and arrange transportation and additional programming for the 2021 school year, which starts in January.

+ What will I receive as a member of the #IStandForGirls monthly giving community?
When you join the #IStandForGirls campaign, you become part of a like-minded community of incredible people who believe in the power of philanthropy and want to help girls get the education they deserve!
You'll also receive a welcome packet with photo(s) of the girl(s) you're helping support, twice-yearly updates on the impact of your giving, and a charitable tax receipt.
+ Can I sponsor more than one girl?
Absolutely! If you have the means, please sponsor as many children as youβre able to. Weβll be incredibly grateful for your generosity. Also the girls will be thrilled to know they have a (s)hero like you cheering them on and helping them get to and stay in school!
Donations of any size are welcomed and will be invested directly in local programs.
+ Can I send a letter to the girl I'm sponsoring?
Our girls love getting letters from our sponsors! Letters are collected throughout the year and are sent to Mozambique. If the letters are in English, we will translate the letter for the girls. If you would like to address a specific age group or grade, please specify in the letter (for example: pre-schoolers, teens, etc). You can send your letters to:
